Drivers are trained in the code of conduct which has four areas of focus – our commitment to safety, our customers, our community and bike maintenance. Our formal training also includes a certification by the Uganda Red Cross in basic first aid.
You can call 0800 300 200 for free and are connected with our customer service team. They will quickly dispatch a SafeBoda to your location. Our call center operate from 7am to midnight all days apart from Thursday, Friday and Saturday where we answer calls till 3am
Currently as of March 2016, price is not fixed and is negotiated between the driver and the passenger. Our drivers importantly sign up to the Code of Conduct which states that the price should be fair.
No SafeBoda drivers charge the market price. Importantly, SafeBoda drivers are stage drivers meaning that they have a “home” location and are accountable to the rules and informal costs of that stage. Some non-SafeBoda drivers float around Kampala without a registered location, presenting a risk to passengers given their lack of traceability.
After the trip is completed, you can rate our drivers’ service and safety out of 5 stars. This helps our community get feedback from our customers.
Drivers sign up to the SafeBoda Code of Conduct to hold themselves accountable to a higher standard of safety and service. This has four main areas – our commitment to safety, our customers, our community and bike maintenance. Drivers are also traceable via the app or in the street in their bright orange jacket with their name and the hotline number on the back which you can call in case of any issues.
We are available currently in Kampala, Uganda and across the city particularly in Central Business District, Nakasero, Wandgeya, Nakawa, Kololo, Ntinda, Bukoto, Bugolobi, and Muyenga among other areas.
With one click you are connected to a SafeBoda who will pick you up at your location. You can rate the driver and soon you will able to pay via a Wallet function that includes mobile money and credit card.
We are currently in the process of creating a Wallet function to make payment cashless. You then will be able to pay with mobile money or a credit card. We hope to introduce this very soon.
