Celebrating 10 Years of Impact: SafeBoda Hosts Driver Service Week to Honor Its Driver Community

By Derrick Katushabe - PR & Advocacy Lead, SafeBoda

In June 2025, SafeBoda marked a remarkable milestone, 10 years of impact, innovation, and community transformation in Africa's transport and technology ecosystem. From humble beginnings to becoming a force for safe, inclusive, and reliable mobility, SafeBoda’s journey has been one powered by its vibrant driver community - the boda riders and car drivers who make the brand's vision a daily reality.

A Decade of Driving Change

For 10 years, SafeBoda has stood at the intersection of road safety, technological innovation, and community empowerment. Through creating thousands of jobs, championing road safety, and empowering individuals with digital and financial tools, the company has not only redefined the ride-hailing space in Uganda but also left an indelible mark on the lives of its driver partners.

Kicking Off the Celebration: The Driver Party

The celebrations began on 22nd June 2025 with a heartwarming Driver Party, hosted at UMA Show Grounds, Lugogo, Kampala an event dedicated to appreciating the drivers who have been the cornerstone of SafeBoda’s success story. It was a moment of joy, laughter, and reflection, bringing together boda and car drivers who’ve journeyed with the brand through its highs and lows.

This wasn’t just a party; it was a moment to recognize the human faces behind the helmets; fathers, mothers, and entrepreneurs whose hard work keeps our streets connected and our communities moving.

Driver Service Week: Putting Drivers First

From 1st to 5th July 2025, SafeBoda opened the gates of the SafeBoda Academy in Kyebando, Kampala for the much-anticipated Driver Service Week. This was not just a service camp, it was a statement of gratitude.

Tens of thousands of drivers flocked to the Academy to access essential services including: Helmet refurbishing for enhanced safety, Hairnets to maintain hygiene, Reflective jackets for improved visibility on the roads, And a host of other supportive services designed to make drivers feel valued and safe.

This event reminded all of us that safety isn't a slogan at SafeBoda, it's a lifestyle.

Partners in Impact

Such a meaningful week wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our partners who share in our mission of empowering the driver community.

We extend heartfelt appreciation to:

The Journey Ahead

The SafeBoda community will continue to build something bigger than a business; something to shape what safe, inclusive, and innovative mobility looks like in Africa.

To Our Drivers, Customers and Partners: Thank You

To every driver and customer who shows up, not just during Service Week but every day using the app - and to our partners who have walked this journey with us, we say thank you.
