KAMPALA, UGANDA – Yesterday there was a shift in the Uganda transport market that saw a significant player announce their exit with immediate effect. While this may have left some customers and drivers stranded during their commute, for SafeBoda this is an opportunity to rise to the occasion and demonstrate the resilience of Uganda’s transport ecosystem.
Uber has been a key player in Uganda’s ride-hailing ecosystem and a valued industry peer over the years. Together, we have collaborated on developing Uganda’s transport sector, including advocating for progressive regulatory frameworks and accelerating the adoption of digital transport services across the country through products like SafeBoda and SafeCar.
We appreciate their contribution to building Uganda's digital mobility landscape and wish the Uber team the very best in their next chapter.
SafeCar by SafeBoda was built to respond to challenges faced by Ugandan commuters and assure our customers and all Ugandans that they can rely on us for safe, affordable and convenient Boda and Car rides.
As a proudly local platform, SafeCar remains committed to our mission to drive safety, advance financial inclusion for our driver partners, and build a connected, sustainable transport network.
Customers can continue to access all our services directly through the SafeBoda App.
We thank our customers, driver partners, and stakeholders for their continued trust and support.
Management, SafeBoda
